I am a personal trainer and group fitness instructor and I set up Fitness with Helen in January 2016. I am a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and qualified in Personal Training, Gym Instruction, Metafit, Kettlebells, Suspension Fitness and also Seated Exercise.
Health and Wellbeing Benefits of Exercise
As I’ve got older I’ve become much more conscious of the health and wellbeing benefits of exercise as well as the increased risks of low activity levels, so much so that I decided to change my career. In March 2016 I left the NHS after 30 years and now work full time in fitness……and I love it. My real passion now is helping people believe they can overcome their obstacles to fitness and improved health.
Fun is Good!
In order to allow people to be their best it’s important to be supportive, give honest feedback, challenge when needed, but most importantly for me, to value and respect them; everyone is an individual, with different interests and different barriers to overcome. I have carried these principles through from my role in the NHS to my role as a Personal Trainer. Although part of my role is to take people beyond their comfort zone, I don’t believe anyone should be ‘pressured’ into doing things they really hate, where’s the fun in that?.……..and fun is good!
