Hi, I’m Helen
I am a personal trainer and group fitness instructor running fitness classes in North Tyneside. I set up Fitness with Helen in January 2016.
I am a member of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA). I hold qualifications in:
- Personal Training
- Exercise Referral
- Gym Instruction
- Pilates – including Reformer Pilates and Barre Pilates Method.
- I have also trained in a number of other disciplines including Metafit, Kettlebells and Seated Exercise
Health and Wellbeing Benefits of Exercise
As I’ve got older I’ve become much more conscious of the health and wellbeing benefits of exercise as well as the increased risks of low activity levels. So much so that I decided to change my career!
In March 2016 I left the NHS after 30 years and now work full time in fitness……and I love it. My real passion now is helping people believe they can overcome their obstacles to fitness and improved health. Providing fitness classes, group exercise and personal training here in North Tyneside.
Fitness classes can be fun – fun is Good!
In order to allow people to be their best I believe it’s important for me to
- be supportive
- give honest feedback
- challenge when needed
- and importantly, to value and respect you
Everyone is an individual, with different interests and different barriers to overcome. I have carried these principles through from my role in the NHS to my role as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.
Although part of my role is to take people beyond their comfort zone, I don’t believe anyone should be ‘pressured’ into doing things they really hate, where’s the fun in that?.……..and fun is good!
I’ve been the person who makes excuses not to exercise. I’ve been embarrassed by my size. I’ve been worried I’d look stupid. I’ve been the biggest person in a class. That’s exactly why I want to help people believe they can….because you can!
